Notice of Election
Senedd Cymru Election 7 May 2026 Ceredigion Penfro Constituency
An election is to be held for Members to serve in Senedd Cymru for the Ceredigion Penfro Constituency.
- Nomination papers can be obtained from the office of the Returning Officer at Neuadd Cyngor Ceredigion, Penmorfa, Aberaeron, Ceredigion SA46 0PA (Telephone Number: 01545 572302) at the times mentioned below or at www.ceredigion.gov.uk or on the Electoral Commission website.
- Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Neuadd Cyngor Ceredigion, Penmorfa, Aberaeron, Ceredigion SA46 0PA between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm on any working day after the date of this notice but not later than 4.00pm on Thursday, 9 April 2026 (excluding bank holidays) or electronically as per the arrangements set out in the electronic delivery statement below.
- Appointments must be made if choosing to deliver nomination papers in person. These can be made by phoning 01545 572302 or by e-mail to CRO-SCE@ceredigion.gov.uk
- Nomination papers may be delivered electronically in accordance with the arrangements set out in the electronic delivery statement below (this also applies to any notice of withdrawal):
- Nomination papers must be submitted by e-mail to CRO-SCE@ceredigion.gov.uk
- Nominations will not be accepted if submitted to an alternative e-mail address;
- The e-mail subject line should make it clear the registered party name or individual candidate’s name;
- On receipt of the papers, an acknowledgement e-mail will be sent. This will not provide confirmation that the nomination is valid;
- A further e-mail will be sent confirming the nomination is valid or whether there are any issues with the information provided;
- The appropriate deposit payments will need to have been made prior to confirmation that the nomination has been confirmed as valid;
- It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that the nomination papers are delivered and confirmed as valid, by no later than 4.00p.m on 9 April 2026.
- The deposits can be deposited with the Returning Officer by 4.00pm on Thursday, 9 April 2026, by direct bank transfer, banker’s draft (banks operating in the UK only) or by cash (British pounds only). The required deposit payments are as follows:
- Individual candidate – deposit sum of £500.00;
- Party list candidates – deposit sum of £500.00 for the first party list candidate; and the sum of £200.00 for each of the next five candidates appearing on the registered party list.
- If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 7 May 2026.
- Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by Monday, 20 April 2026. Applications ca be made online www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
- Electors and their proxies should take note that all applications, amendments or cancellations for new and existing postal and postal proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below), by 5.00pm on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. This includes electors or their proxies who wish to make alterations to their existing arrangements on a permanent basis.
- New applications to vote by proxy (not postal / emergency proxies) must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below), by 5.00pm on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
- To vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work / service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5.00pm on Thursday, 7 May 2026. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5.00pm on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. To apply on the grounds of work / service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5.00pm on Tuesday, 28 April 2026
