Period Dignity in Ceredigion Schools and Home Education
All secondary schools and pupil referral units have free period products, and supplies are also available for pupils in primary schools.
Ceredigion Youth Council think it's important that young people can make informed choices about what best suit their bodies when it comes to periods. Each Secondary School has a period product ‘pick and mix’ unit that offers the opportunity for pupils to try a variety of products for free, allowing them to choose the products that work best for them. Many of the options are eco-friendly, plastic free or reusable. Grab a bag and choose your products!
Through Ceredigion’s Period Dignity Scheme, each Secondary School receives a supply of spares clothes for the purpose of promoting period dignity. This includes underwear, tights, school trousers and skirts.

‘Puberty and period dignity training’ for professionals including school colleagues is organised annually, offering the opportunity for individuals working with children and young people to learn more about periods and menstrual health.
2024-2025 Professionals Training Dates
Ceredigion’s Period Dignity Scheme commission specialist educational workshops for all Ceredigion Secondary Schools, for pupils to learn more about periods and menstrual health. These workshops are in addition and complement the core offer delivered by the School Nursing Team, who deliver the Healthy Child Wales Programme across all Ceredigion Primary Schools.

Signposting posters for school toilets and other areas can be downloaded to inform pupils of where they can access free period products or support.
Elected Home Educated families can request a supply of period products through postal delivery or pick up at any community location (please see community directory and map to find a stockist near you). Through Ceredigion’s Education Inclusion Team, EHE families are contacted each term with period dignity information and an offer to receive a postal delivery of suitable products.
