Devils Bridge Trails

Devils Bridge is a village in the Cambrian mountains known for its series of 3 bridges, each built on top of the last.

Legend has it that a local farmer, tired of struggling to cross the river Mynach, made a pact with the devil to build a bridge, the agreement being that the first soul to cross would henceforth belong to the devil. Once the bridge was built, the wily farmer sent a goat across first thus outwitting the devil and sending him into a fit of rage.

Besides the bridges and falls, the surrounding area is steeped in myths and legends, history and anecdote. More recently the location featured heavily in the TV series ‘Hinterland’. This series of walks is a great way to explore the area beyond the gorge itself.
